Editors’ Picks: Here are the 5 EPs You should listen to.
An Extended Play Record which is often called an “EP” usually has more than one single, about 3, 4 or 5 and it’s usually unqualified as an album or Lp.
Late last year, many acts released EPs from their ends and they’ve released a good one at that. We’ve had enough time to vibe to a lot of them and we’ve decided to share the best ones for you all not to miss out on this. The EPs we’ll be talking about below are a must listen to.
1. Tiwa Savage – Sugarcane EP
Tiwa Savage’s Sugarcane Ep was released on the 22nd of September, 2017 ahead of her album to be released this year. The six-track Ep has got indeed a blend of Sugarcane and some other nice flavours in it. From the first track “Sugarcane” to the last (6th) track “Ma Lo” which features Starboy’s very own, Wizkid and was produced by Spellz Jamin. We felt the infused melody of the talented singer and producer, Maleek Berry on the 3rd track “Me and You”. She also added her club banger “All Over” which she released earlier before she released her EP to it as she noticed her fans couldn’t get enough of it which was true. The production work on Tiwa Savage’s Sugarcane Ep isn’t of this world, the Mavin Record’s first lady did some international standard right there guys. Stream “Sugarcane” below.
2. Jidenna – Boomerang EP
Jidenna Theodore Mobisson, known by his stage name Jidenna, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He released his “Boomerang” EP on the 10th of November, 2017. The well produced and well-arranged EP got 6 beautiful tracks featuring some other Nigerian acts,. Tiwa Savage on the Track 3 “Spy Candy”, an excellent remix of his hit song “Bambi” featuring Maleek Berry, one of america’s trap act, Quavo and Ghana’s rap king, Sarkodie. A light remix for “Little Bit More” Featuring Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter, Burna Boy. To round it up, the track 6 “Out Of Body” was a freshly made track which features American Rapper, Wale and Dot Cromwell. The classic man delivered a classic EP as usual and it’s No 2 on our list. An hard-working artist will never fail at it, Maleek Berry is one very dedicated and hard-working act. SInce his first single release till now, he’s never given less. His début EP “Last Daze Of Summer” which was released in 2016 was the talk of the town after it serves 6 melodious tracks of 20 mins. The year 2017 was a good year for Berry and to round that up, he started the anticipation for his new EP “Last Daze Of Winter” which was released on the 18th of January, 2018. Writing, Singing and Producing at the same time isn’t an easy task but we are glad to tell y’all that all six-tracks on “FDOW” EP was well written, sang and produced by Berry himself. That’s what we call talent from the fast growing and award-winning act. Enjoy the melodious “FDOW” EP below guys.
In-House producer for BBnZ Live, Juls who after he produced hit songs for some african acts i.e Mr Eazi, Nonso Amadi, Sarkodie and many more brought him to limelight. Juls attained a level of standard in the music industry when he put out his début EP “Leap Of Faith” which had really massive air plays, digital sales and streams last year, 2017. Yet he didn’t let out the same year before he released his second EP “Ojekoo” which’s got the No 4 spot on our list based on its heavyweight features. Juls enlists Adekunle Gold, Bisa Kdei, Moelogo, Dj Tunez, Nonso Amadi, Burna Boy and more on the great piece of art. ‘Ojekoo’ EP is a must listen to guys, stream it below.
5. Not3s – Take Not3s EP
Hackney’s Not3s “Take Not3s” EP will never be left out this great list. The Relentless Record’s act put out his début EP “Take Not3s” on the 17th of November, 2017 not long after he won his “Best Breakthrough Act” at Grm Daily‘s Rated awards. The nine-track EP features some other acts on it i.e Mostack, Shakka & Tinie Tempah. On the EP he also added his hit single “Addison Lee” as Track 2 and “Aladdin” as next up. Not to forget, he has released the official visuals to some songs on this EP and you really should check them out.
